In March, we had a visit from two art teachers from the British Council who were here to gather ideas to take back to Great Britain.  We exchanged a ton of ideas including a collaboration between our two schools.  For my Art I students´ mid-terms, they are developing their profiles on our new Art E-pals wikiAfter spring break, Mrs. Aker´s art students will join us.  We hope our friends from across the `pond´ will be online to exchange artwork soon.

Upcoming Art Shows
Posted 12/10/08- Updated 12/17/08
There are many shows that we are currently preparing artwork to enter immediately when we return from Winter Break.  This includes Scholastics, Raleigh Women's Club, Local Color Student Art Show, and Pieces of Gold.  I have already provided opportunities to matt work afterschool- e-mail me if you´re interested in setting up another matting session.  I will provide the matt board and show them how to do it.  If they would like to exhibit art but prefer having it matted professionally (this can be pricey sometimes), they are welcome to still enter it. Click here for art show details.

Artspace field trip

We had a wonderful time interviewing artist and visiting the art galleries in Moore Square on Friday 12/5.  I only wish students had more time in the semester with me to develop ideas they came up with from seeing professional artwork in person.  Special thanks to Ms. Mills, Ms. Powell, Ms. Alstadt, and SRMHS Alumnae Suzanne Tisdell for chaperoning!
