Welcome Art Teachers! Home/ Teachers
While I"ve created this section of the site mainly as a resource for NCAEA art teachers, I´ve tried to include resources of interest to other art teachers as well. Wendy Ferguson and I will serve as your region chairs for through the 2008 Staff Development Conference. I will post upcoming events, important links, and helpful resources. Please e-mail me at mharrell@wcpss.net to suggest a link or add an event. Thanks, Michelle Harrell

NBPTS Entry 4- The Year Before Presentation We had a fabulous NCAEA conference in Winston Salem 10/23-25/09. I presented `Entry 4- The Year Before´ to help art teachers begin preparing for National Board Certification 1-5 years before applying. The idea is to save everything, learn about the standards, and begin organizing yourself using the framework of the 3 categories. I´ve uploaded the Powerpoint presentation and handout for those that attended as well as those who were not able to attend. While the last page of my handout has specific links within their huge web-site, http://www.nbpts.org is the main resource to explore to help you in this process.
NC General Assembly Student Art Exhibition I proudly serve on the NCAEA Youth Art Month committee by organizing the state level YAM event which is a year-long art exhibition at the NC General Assembly. Download more information in the entry form and get your artwork to your NCAEA region chair by early January 2010 so they can bring it to the NCAEA board retreat.
DPI Essential Standards in Art- The New SCOS Save the date 12/4/09 to get your first peak at the New NC Essential Standards in Art first draft. I am serving as one of the handful of writers and we will need your feedback to make this document useful for art teachers across the state. Two of the lenses we are using to write these standards are the revised Bloom´s Taxonomy and 21st Century thinking skills. You can also see the ACRE web-site from DPI to get a better idea of what´s different between essential standards and our old curriculum (the Standard Course of Study). |
