Harrellīs AC
Home/ Students / Harrellīs AC

Welcome to my AC/ Student Leadership web-page. I will try to clarify the assignments that you will be getting a grade this semester.  These are some of the big topics I feel we are focusing on this year and some helpful links to explore independently.  If you would like to add a web-site, e-mail it to me at mharrell@wcpss.net.

11th Grade:
Big changes for 2008/2009: One of the biggest changes for this school year will be the addition of GAP (Graduation Academic Preparation).  Download 1st semester curriculum here which includes all the handouts since July.  Letters to grad project committee are due to me by 11/25.  Download my template here to help you.  E-mail me with questions.

Many schools are approaching GAP as an individual class whereas SRMHS will be incorporating it into the AC curriculum.  The purpose is to prepare students for their graduation project.  In addition, we will continue  discussing Covey Habits, leadership traits, and other academic planning. The following is where I will begin the year for new AC students and a review for our old AC students (where I left off in the Spring).

Create an account at CFNC.org and explore the resources available.  During your sophomore year, you should become familiar with the high school planner, the planner timeline, and the Test Prep section.

Habit #2- Start with the End in Mind.  Get your 4- year plan signed by parents so we can begin exploring careers, colleges, and mapping out courses to take for 2008/2009.  Get the newsletter signed from report card conferencing on 1/9 and interim conferencing on 1/23.

What goals and dreams do you want to accomplish before you die?  Watch the video about professorīs childhood dreams and think about your `bucket list.ī

Habit #3:   Putting First Things First
Habit #2 is the vision and Habit #3 is the willpower, the determination, and the discipline to achieve it.   We spend our time in one of four ways, as illustrated in the Time Matrix.   The more time we spend in Quadrant II, the more effective we are in time management.  The survey we used in class is also online- Take this online survey to see how you manage your time.  See the bottom of the page for resoures on time management.
