Artist in the Spotlight
Home/ Students/ Artist in the Spotlight

Phase 1: The Search is on! Research Handout- due Wed 4/15
Phase 2: Show off your work/ Powerpoint
Phase 3: Project Proposal and Project Inspired by Artist

Phase 1: The Search

  1. Choose your artist and sign up for them on my list.
  2. Start by finding information entering your artistīs name in the search box at the artcyclopedia.com web-site to search museum, college, and other reputable online databases.
  3. Then, go through the Media Center Resourcese to search SIRS, Encarta, and other online databases.
  4. Then, if you havenīt found any resources on your artist, resort to search engines such as Yahoo, Altavista, and Lycos.

Phase 2: Show off your work/ Powerpoint.
While I think most SRMHS students have used PowerPoint before, Iīve prepared a
handout with a few tips and a template you can use to help. The template has a tutorial on it as well. You can sign up for a day to present your artist or I may give one to you.  I would prefer for you to do it on Friday 4/17 if possible.  Otherwise, be prepared to present on Monday 4/20.  Our field trip is Tuedsay 4/21.

Phase 3: Project Proposal and Project Inspired by Artist
You have researched this artist enough by now to become inspired by something he/she did or another artist you learned about on our field trip.  You can do the same media, the same subject matter, or using a similar style (brushstroke, etc.)  Give me
this rubric with your preliminary sketch on Wed 4/29 so I can prepare for your independent project.   Some of it may need to be done outside of class.
