For art students My strongest suggestion is to prepare a portfolio to be ready for anything that comes your way. Each college offers art scholarships (merit scholarships), academic scholarships, and need based scholarships. Another scholarship resources is the Scholastics Art and Writing Portfolio Competition. Many of the country´s best art schools will automatically give a scholarship for winning a Scholastics key for an individual artwork or a larger scholarship for an entire portfolio. Modeling your porfolio around Scholastics also gives structure that would help you for any other scholarship. Another resouces for local art students is the Raleigh Arts Commission.
