What is a Visual Journal? Anything and Everything!!
A Visual Journal is sketchbook, a dairy, a calendar, journal, or just about anything you want it to be! It is a priceless art form for artists to use as a visual dairy/journal, preliminary sketches, and learning tool.
Did you know that you could use your Visual Journal for portfolio review when applying to art schools and colleges? Visual Journals should be a personal expression of you and your ideas and not feel like something you only do as homework assignments. Sketch, write, and collage as often as you can.
I will occasionally give you a sheet of prompts. Visual Art I should spend at least 30 minutes each week and Art II or above should spend at least an hour each week and be prepared to show me on Thursday. Feel free to be proactive (Covey Habit #1) and get ahead by doing future assignments.

Art III/IV 2009 Advanced art classes rarely need structured prompts to inspire them. However, I recommend Art III/IV students to develop preliminary sketches and brainstorm future art projects that may be part of your theme. |
